MATC Students Can Apply for Energy Assistance at Milwaukee Campus Session March 18
MILWAUKEE (Feb. 2, 2010) - Milwaukee Area Technical College students can apply for energy assistance from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Thursday, March 18, in Room M302 in the Main Building at the Downtown Milwaukee Campus, 1015 N. 6th St.
Individuals may be eligible for Wisconsin Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) if their gross income is at or below 150% of the poverty guidelines. A complete listing of the current guidelines by household size is available at http://www.cr-sdc.org/Programs/EnergyAssistance.html
The program is intended to help pay a portion of heating costs and is not intended to pay the total annual heating cost. The amount of assistance varies according to household size, income level, and household heating costs.
Applicants should bring the following:

Current energy bill (gas/electric/oil).

Rent certificate or statement from landlord confirming heat is included in rent.

Proof of all income sources for all household members 18 years and older for the previous three months. Seasonal employees should bring the prior year’s 1040 tax forms.

Social Security cards for everyone living in the household.

Current Stormer Pass (MATC student ID)
The Social Development Commission, as the sub-contractor of the Milwaukee County Department of Human Services, operates the program throughout Milwaukee County, which includes these communities: Bayside, Brown Deer, Cudahy, Fox Point, Franklin Glendale, Greendale, Greenfield, Hales Corners, Milwaukee, Oak Creek River Hills, Shorewood, South Milwaukee, St. Francis, Wauwatosa, West Allis, West Milwaukee, and Whitefish Bay.
